Who Can Apply?
You may qualify through a recognised professional or academic qualification, or by obtaining at least six points under Germany’s points-based system.
Points may be awarded for:
- Professional qualifications
- Relevant work experience
- German or English language skills
- Age
- Previous connection to Germany
- Qualification in a shortage occupation
Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient funds and valid health insurance. For 2026, the financial requirement is generally €1,091 net per month, which may be proven through a blocked account, eligible part-time employment or a formal declaration of commitment.
