Family Reunification in Ireland

Ireland provides family reunification pathways for eligible family members of qualifying sponsors, with requirements depending on the sponsor’s immigration status and individual circumstances.

Holders of a Critical Skills Employment Permit benefit from more favourable family reunification arrangements and may generally apply for eligible family members to join them without the same waiting period that applies to some other employment categories.

Family reunification is also available to eligible family members of General Employment Permit holders, but different sponsorship, financial and residence requirements apply. Current Irish policy requires Category C sponsors, which includes General Employment Permit holders, to meet specified income conditions.
